Paul James Traub died on May 9, 2009. Paul was born in Defiance, Ohio on June 23, 1921 to Herbert D. and Elsie (Gruver) Traub. The family moved to Indianapolis in September of that year. Paul graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1940, having obtained the rank of Lt. Colonel in the Tech ROTC. He was an eagle scout.He entered Syracuse University and became a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He was elected President of the Syracuse Chapter just before being inducted into the Army. He spent 34 months in service and became a bombardier in the Army Air Corp. He was commissioned a lieutenant.After service, Paul returned to school and graduated from Butler University in 1949 with a degree in accounting. Paul worked for several different companies, retiring in 1985 from the Army Finance Center after 22 years. Paul was quite active with the Murat Shrine Transportation Club and was the first individual to run 200 trips to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals.Mr. Traub is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lorena (Todd), a daughter, Susan O’Neill (Bill), stepdaughter, Patricia Bacon (Dan), stepson, Robert Todd (Cheri), seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Virginia Snyder (Bill) and nieces and nephews.The family would like to thank Dr. Hillary Wu and her staff at the Central Indiana Cancer Center and the staff at Community Home Health Services for their compassionate and professional dedication.Viewing will be Tuesday, May 12 at Old Bethel United Methodist Church beginning at 12:00 noon, with a service at 2:00 p.m.In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL or on-line at http://support.shrinershospitals.org/site/DocServer/Internet_form_1108.pdf?docID=481 Simply copy & paste the above URL into your browser window to access the site.
